Based near Annapolis, Maryland, Hollowed Sky formed in November 2016. Berchielli, Bradshaw, and Rupertus were coming off extended musical hiatuses after their previous projects had fizzled out, and they were looking for a place to jam. Within 30 seconds of their first jam session, they knew they were onto something special. As they continued to play, the jams began to take shape, and several months later, they realized they needed to find a singer. When Orem joined the band around June 2017, the structured jams transformed into full-fledged songs, and they officially became a band.

With this lineup, Hollowed Sky released several albums, including *Hollowed Sky* (2017), *Strings* (2020), *Unstrung* (2021), and *Bound by Nightmares* (2022). They also put out singles such as “Brainwave” (2017, studio jam), “Into the Ground” (2021), and a cover of “Hey You” (2021, originally by Pink Floyd).

In June 2022, the band members parted ways with their original singer, Orem. After this transition, they decided to perform a couple of previously scheduled shows as a three-piece instrumental group before going back to the drawing board. After several months of composing new music, Robyn Bingham joined the band in March 2023, forming the current lineup of Hollowed Sky.

On August 4, 2023, Hollowed Sky released their first single with the new lineup, titled “Kill My Darlings,” followed by “Hookworm” on October 6, 2023. The band released “The Northern Lights” on January 5, 2024, and a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” on March 15, 2024. Their latest single, “Patchwork Beast,” was released on May 1, 2024.
